I came out of the military looking for what was next, and the first seat I took was in banking. It was good work — but the part that kept pulling my attention wasn't the spreadsheets in front of me. It was watching what AI could already do: work that used to take me hours, finished in seconds. Once I saw it, I couldn't unsee it.
So I went all in on learning it properly — not as a spectator, but by building. Today I'm putting myself through an International MBA at the University of South Carolina while building AI companies in public: real systems, real tools, made in the open so anyone can follow along. One of them is an app I'm finishing and shipping to the App Store.
I do it this way on purpose. A lot of people teaching AI hide the good part behind a paywall. I'd rather show the actual work — the prompts, the systems, the wins and the parts that aren't working yet — and hand the files over. So I'm building a free community where anyone curious about AI can learn to build with it, alongside someone doing it in real time.
The banking background never left me. I look at every project the way an operator looks at a portfolio: what's the goal, what's it actually worth, where does the next hour of effort go. That clarity is what I try to bring to everything I make — and to teach.
I'm not a guru, and I'm not selling a finish line. I'm a builder who likes helping people, learning in public, and writing down everything I figure out. If that's the kind of person you'd want to learn from, you're in the right place.
Once I saw what AI could do, I couldn't unsee it.
THE PATH HERE
How I got to building in public
- Service. Started in the U.S. military — where I learned to operate under pressure and finish what I start.
- Banking. Took a seat in finance. Good work, sharp people — but I kept watching AI do in seconds what was taking me hours.
- The turn. Decided to build with AI instead of just using it, and started making real things with my own hands.
- In public. Began building AI companies in the open — sharing the process and giving away the files as I go.
- The MBA. Putting myself through an International MBA at the University of South Carolina while I build — sharpening the operator's side of the work.
- The community. Opened a free school so anyone curious about AI can learn to build alongside me, in real time.
